چکیده
Aim: Fungi that can tolerate unfavorable conditions are a potential source of stable bioactive metabolites be used for various industrial processes. Therefore this study aimed to isolate halotolerant and halophilic fungi from the Iko river estuary screen them three industrially important enzymes: amylase, cellulase, mannanase.
Place Duration Study: Department Microbiology, Akwa Ibom State University, Nigeria, between September 2021 August 2022.
Methodology: Five sediment-dwelling isolated locations along were assayed their halotolerance on PDA containing different NaCl concentrations while amylolytic, cellulolytic, mannolytic activities evaluated agar plates 10% NaCl. The highest producer screened enzymes was identified using molecular techniques further subjected submerged fermentation optimize production salt tolerant Results: All isolates halotolerant, best adapted salinity 5% (w/v), capable secreting at least one tested in (w/v). Aspergillus niger L2S1 had enzymatic index among other thus requiring optimization. optimum mannanase obtained an incubation temperature 30oC, initial pH 6.0, concentration Out agro-wastes, wheat bran most suited corncob cellulase production, maximum yield copra meal. Amylase optimal 96 hours incubation, whereas required 144 reach its activity.
Conclusion: utilizing carbon sources including cheap agro-residues as substrates halostable mannanase.

AIM To detect and assess the activity of extracellular hydrolytic enzymes and to find differences in enzymograms between fungi isolated from wheat and rye samples and grown on Czapek-Dox Broth and Sabouraud Dextrose Broth enriched with cereal (wheat or rye). Isolated strains were also classified in the scale of biosafety levels (BSL). MATERIAL AND METHODS The study used 23 strains of fungi cu...
متن کاملDevelopment of a Halotolerant Community in the St. Lucia Estuary (South Africa) during a Hypersaline Phase
BACKGROUND The St. Lucia Estuary, Africa's largest estuarine lake, is currently experiencing unprecedented freshwater deprivation which has resulted in a northward gradient of drought effects, with hypersaline conditions in its northern lakes. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS This study documents the changes that occurred in the biotic communities at False Bay from May 2010 to June 2011, in ord...

Background: Food poisoning resulting from microbial and heavy metals pollution is commonplace. These contaminants do not only reduce the nutritional value of the food but are in many cases toxic. In this study, the proximate composition, bacterial quality and some heavy metals (Cd, Pb, Hg) concentration in three common fish species (Claria gariepinus, Heterobrachus bidorsalis and Channa obscura...
متن کاملSpatial and Temporal Variation in Copepod Community in the Helleh River Estuary – South Coast of Iran, Persian Gulf
Copepods are the main zooplankton assemblages in most tropical and semi-tropical estuaries. In this research, copepod population dynamics were investigated in Helleh River estuary, Persian Gulf during four seasons beginning from summer 2011 to spring 2012. Samples were taken using plankton net with mesh size of 140 µm and vertical towing from 5 fixed-stations in mid-season. Results showed that...
